Hobbies
I enjoy writing poetry and writing critical analyses of classic works of literature. My active engagement with Creative Writing deeply informs my teaching philosophy. My personal quest to develop myself as a creative writer has taught me to enjoy poetry and prose fiction and how to analyse literature. I've had the opportunity to work with some demanding yet also most imaginative and generous teachers—Derek Walcott, Phillip Terry, John Glenday, and Choman Hardi, and Sam Solecki— and they have exposed to me a variety of highly creative non-academic methods of teaching and assessment. But most importantly, my work with these brilliant writers and teachers has taught me the basic humility, empathy and humanity that are the most necessary tools of an effective teacher.
